Melho Shop - a brand

The aim of this brand is to bring awareness and joy to people around sustainable, ethical and eco-responsable products.

Today it is important to understand where our belongings are coming from, being conscious of their providence, and to understand that everything that surrounds us is a choice. My electronic devices are a choice, my clothes are a choice, my yarns are a choice. Every action I choose to initiate is a choice, most of the time. We have the privilege to choose, and thus we have a power.

The main vision of Melho shop is to bring people together and to allow them to understand that they can pro-actively change the world through little actions. Every step we take is a reflection of our values in humanity, every breath we take in is a testimony of life, of trees from afar that create us the air to exist. Every drop of water in a fertile land is a hope for life, a biochemistry that creates a new opportunity to grow - together we grow.

Today the biggest choice we have is to protect the essence. For me that is our humanness - love, connexions (with one another) & nature (water, air (thus trees).

On a more personal note, Melho shop was created from one of my last name Rios Melho coming from my Peruvian roots. Thus through this I want to connect more deeply with this land. It is well known in the knitting, crochet, yarn community that Peru is a great provider of high quality natural wool, thanks to Llamas, Alpacas. As an act of humanness I want to help my land, it’s forest, rivers, and earth.

Over there, still lies an unconsciousness around nature, many wood workers for example are providing their wood in midst of the amazon forest around the rivers, to easily get the wood carried away by the current of the waters, without giving much attention to the biodiversity ecosystem of the forest. Hence animals disappear, or they become endangered species, and the Amazon forests begins to produce more Co2 than to absorb it.

Amazon rivers provoke more droughts due to the deforestation, leading to a deficit in evapotranspiration, (meaning that there is less water vapor in the air). The capacity for the Amazonian rivers and forest to absorb Co2 drastically drop impacting the climate system on a world level.

Therefore as part of my vision, I wish & plan to donate 5% of the benefices from Melho shop into associations that help the Amazonian lands & Indigenous tribes to preserve and restore our Earth’s forests and ecosystems.

Remember that we have a choice, and that every drop counts. 🌀
